Husky And Mischievous

Another day and another attractive older lady with a dog. Today's Daily Mail featured this shot of mine to go with a Felicity Kendal interview. She worked with me, her spaniel and a stepladder to create this unforgettable image. Well unforgettable for me anyway and I certainly won't forget what The Mail, right for a change, describe as her "husky and mischievous chuckle".

Janet Is A Punk Rocker

I've just had the honour of pointing my lens at the lovely Janet Ellis. The ex-Blue Peter presenter, asthma sufferer and mother of Sophie Ellis-Bexter posed at her west London home with Lucy, her large shaggy dog, who is not normally allowed on the sofa. I noticed that Janet's cd collection contained The Ramones Anthology, it was probably her husband's, but anyway she rocks! (I wasn't snooping by the way, it's an easilly recognisable double cd with pink writing).

The Mistress Of Distraction

As anyone knows who works from home, it's easy to get distracted and even the smallest things can stop you from knuckling down and doing something constructive work-wise. This is even more the case when you've got young children at home too, Daisy Mae's latest very successful, attention grabbing trick is to dance in my office. Here she tries ballet and something more contemporary in a grass skirt.

Art Bin - Nearly Full

This is one my shots of Michael Landy artist and creator of Art Bin, the huge transparent skip at The South London Gallery where fellow artists are encouraged to dump unwanted artworks. This was shot back in January with a few items that were due to go into the bin which closes down this weekend. I was impressed by the huge scale of this project and always like the idea of getting rid of stuff which Landy took even further with his previous work where he fantastically smashed up everything he owned.

He asked me if I had anything to contribute. I didn't, of course.

Aliens and Wayne Rooney

This is Lord Martin Rees, the Royal Astronomer and president of The Royal Society. A shot I did for this month's Prospect Magazine.

They don't usually commission photography being a serious word-heavy intellectual publication. However, The Sun, who are at the complete opposite end of the publishing spectrum, picked up part of the interview, Lord Rees' idea that aliens are beyond our understanding and could be anywhere. The Sun illustrate this with pictures of Wayne Rooney next to a pigeon with the caption "Is it coo, or Roo? ... Aliens may be in many forms, says Lord"

It's funny how a sensible conversation with a Lord can lead to a link being made between Rooney and a pigeon that appeared on page 3 of The Sun. The full interview and another one of my pics can be seen here:

An Innocent Smoothie

A book called I Wish I Worked There by Kursty Groves is being launched at Sony Music Entertainment tomorrow night. This is my picture of Richard Reed, he's one of the managing partners of Innocent who feature in the book. His juggling skills weren't up to much but thanks to the wonders of still photography we were able to create the illusion with a bit of fruit tossing. The Innocent office in Shepherds Bush was a fantastic work space, astroturf flooring, picnic tables and as much mashed up bottled fruit as you can drink. Quite a compromise from my workplace then at The Times, the depressing 80s industrial, fortress Wapping.
